Track & field Day HNS Athletes Compete in Northeast Nebraska Track and Field Day - Four athletes participated in the Northeast Nebraska Track and Field Day hosted in Wayne, NE on Friday, May 1st. HNS Students were involved in multiple events including the softball throw, standing long jump, 100 meter run, 200 meter run, 25 meter walk, 50 meter walk and the 100 meter walk. Congratulations to John Kusel, Nicholas McNear, Lindsey Lauer and Tabitha Blatchford.

HNS Girls 4x1 Team Crushes School Record - Takes First at Norfolk Classic - Savannah Scoville, Sophie Noecker, Camie Stratman and Samantha Huss are not afraid to compete. The Nofolk Classic takes the top eight times of all area athletes and runs them down the track. The girls took first at the meet and crushed the old school record - (which was theirs from last year!) of 51.55 with a new time of 50.5 - Wow... Go Cats! Camie Stratman medaled 4th in the long jump. Brian Santiago placed 4th in the mile. Cole Schmidt placed 3rd in triple jump. Tanner Fischer placed 6th in the 800. Griffon Kalin placed 2nd in the 300 m Hurdles.
   
HNS Golf
HNS Golf Team Wins Hartington Golf Invite - The HNS Golf team won their own Invitational this last week. The team has seen some success this year. They placed first at the Osmond and Hartington Invites, second at the Laurel Invite and third at the O'neil Invite. Chase Dendinger has also seen success and was the top medalist at the Osmond Invite.
   
District Music
Hartington-Newcastle Hosts District Music - April 24th the hallways were full of musical talent. Concert Band and Jazz Band received superior ratings from all three judges.  Also receiving superior ratings were, Madison Morten & Josiah Navarro vocal duet, both Boys Ensembles, and vocal solos by Austin Kaddatz, Josiah Navarro and Cece Ponce.  Receiving excellent ratings were the Mixed Chorus, both Girls Ensembles, Cece Ponce and Jacob Gothier vocal duet, and Lexi Goetschius's vocal solo.
